No car in the world is as instantly recognizable as a Ferrari, and few Ferraris are as iconic as the stunning 275 GTB.
This super sporty berlinetta, directly descended from the unmatched 250 GTO, debuted at the 1964 Paris Motor Show, introducing several important technical innovations.
The gearbox, finally a five-speed transaxle, paired with independent rear suspension, marked a significant technical leap. Pininfarina’s stunning design blended the latest Maranello grand tourer and sports car elements into an aggressive yet elegant look.
This perfect mix created a car meant to be seen: a rolling statement of style and prestige. But it was also a formidable racing machine, with various versions achieving great success in endurance, speed, and rally competitions, boasting a long, decorated career.
What stands out most, however, is its iconic status among the elite. Many VIP owners drove the 275 GTB, but one of the most famous was American actor Clint Eastwood. At the height of his career in the late ’60s, Eastwood’s GTB had a distinctly Italian story.
Producer Dino de Laurentiis ordered chassis 8359 specifically as a gift to Eastwood, in appreciation of his role in the 1966 film The Witches. Originally delivered in beautiful “Grigio Notte” with black leather interior and extra accessories, the car was soon repainted dark green in Rome before being shipped to the U.S., where Eastwood kept it for several years alongside other sporty cars, often other Ferraris.
After their time together, the stunning GTB returned to Europe, passing through several owners before being sold recently – remarkably, it remains in its (arguably wrong) green color, adding to its unique charm.
